Chicago area weather forecast for Tuesday, June 1, 2010

After the long holiday weekend we'll head back to work and school under blues skies on Tuesday.

Behind the front that brought showers and thunderstorms on Memorial day we'll see a weak area of high pressure move into the region.  That sinking airmass should lead to sunny skies and warmer temperatures.  With east winds turning to the south at 10 mph we should see highs in the low to mid 80s.

Going into Tuesday evening our clouds are expected to increase.  The cloud cover will come in advance of a surface low that is forecast to move through Illinois Wednesday.  Thunderstorms will be possible on Wednesday and the Storm Prediction Center is calling for a risk of seeing some severe storms.

After Wednesday wet weather we should quiet down once again Thursday, but the chance for more showers and storms returns Friday.
