Thursday will be cool and quiet, but that's just the calm before the storm.
Ridging on the surface and aloft should lead to a good dose of sunshine Thursday, especially as we start the day. As the day goes on however we should see increasing clouds that will gradually blow into the region ahead of our next wet weather maker.
Highs Thursday are expected to reach the low 60s, but with north/northeast winds around 10 mph it should be slightly cooler near the lake. Our winds will start to shift and increase as we head into Thursday night.
An upper level shortwave is forecast to move east out of the central plains late Thursday on a course toward the Great Lakes. The energy aloft will push a surface low out ahead of it bringing more moisture and warm air into the region.
As the system approaches we'll see the chance for showers and thunderstorms become likely late Thursday night and into early Friday morning. Scattered showers will remain possible through much of the day Friday as our winds stay breezy as well.
Behind the system that is expected to bring us the wet weather we'll be much cooler through the weekend.
