It appears we'll sacrifice our Friday for a warmer and sunnier weekend.
Make sure to grab your umbrella before you head out the door Friday morning. An upper level trough will move through the region during the day and showers will be likely with a few thunderstorms possible as well.
The best chance for rain appears to be during the morning, but we'll keep a chance for scattered showers in the forecast through the afternoon. We should dry out from west to east Friday evening as the low moves over the region. Rainfall totals are expected between 1/4-3/4". Where we see thunderstorms totals may be higher.
As the low exits the region Friday night an upper level ridge will gradually build into the region through the weekend. Our skies should clear during the day Saturday. With south winds helping, our highs should make it into the mid 70s.
Our warm up will be just starting Saturday. As we close out the weekend we'll see the upper level ridge firmly over the Midwest. Under the ridge we should see plenty of sunshine and temperatures well above average.
With a southerly flow set up and a good dose of sunshine highs on Sunday and Monday are forecast to reach the mid 80s. We'll watch and see, but it's possible we could be even warmer than that with temperatures in the upper 80s.
