Chicago area festivals celebrate late summer on the weekend of Aug. 23-24-25, 2013. Following are this weekend's festivals being held in Chicago, Palatine, Highland Park, Cherry Valley, Stickney and Worth.
Chicago: Bash on Wabash 10th Annual South Loop Festival runs Aug. 24-25. The fest is a lively event that offers a wide variety of musical acts, food and beverages (including beer and wine), arts & crafts, an elaborate children’s area, kids stage, vendor booths and more. Bands play from 1-10 p.m. each day. Saturday's lineup includes: Ungnomes, Tracer Bullet, Afrozep, Turquoise Jeep, Pyyramids, Kevin Daniels & Friends, Lydia Loveless, Mathien and Truckfighters. Sunday's lineup District 97, Ockam's Razor, American English, Halfmoon Mad, American English, Get Up with the Clowns, American English and Mr. Blotto. Admission: $5 donation, Kids free, Kids Stage $2.

Palatine: Downtown Palatine Street Fest 2013 is a three day street fest that runs Aug. 23-25 in Downtown Palatine, in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago. The outdoor features live music, local cuisine, and family entertainment. Activities include Cyclefest by Bike Palatine on Sat.,Outdoor Community Bingo on Sat., FeetFest 3K run/walk on Sun. and Sweet Pea Pet Parade on Sun.. The Fri. (5:30-10 p.m.) band lineup includes Old School, Purple Apple, Dot Dot Dot and Sixteen Candles. The Sat (11 a.m. - 10 p.m.) band lineup includes Brother Tim, Lakeshore Vibe, Rock Candy, Wedding Banned and Cherry Poppin’ Daddies. The Sun. Highland Park: Taste of Highland Park/Port Clinton Art Festival is held in the North Shore suburb of Highland Park for three days, Aug. 23-25. The street fest features art, vendors, food and musical entertainment. Band headliners include Sugar High on Fri. and 16 Candles on Sat. Highland Park festival offers original artwork, food and fun
Long Grove: Village of Long Grove Art and Wine Fest in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago, runs Sat. and Sun., 10 a.m. to 5 p.m..
Bartlett: Bannerman's Outdoor music fest
Cherry Valley: Cherry Valley Festival Days , at Baumann Park in Cherry Valley (Rockford area) runs Aug. 23-25. The fest features food, fireworks, carnival and bands. Headlining bands at the Main Stage include Infinity on Fri.(10 p.m.), 7th Heaven on Sat. (10 p.m.) and Jamie Campbell & the Redneck Romeos (4 p.m.).
Skokie: Skokie Backlot Bash is a fest held in a two block section (5127 Oakton Street) of Skokie Aug. 23-25. The name Backlot refers to Skokie's heritage as a filming location during the silent film era and silent films are shown at the historic Skokie Theatre. The fest features carnival rides, auto show, food, beer tent, sidewalk sale, bingo, music and more. Headliners include the Sleepwater Band ( Fri. 8:30 p.m.) and English Beat (Sat. 8:20 p.m.)
Stickney: Centennial Celebration runs Aug. 23-25 in Veterans Park in Stickney. The fest features carnival rides, food vendors, live bands and fireworks! Bands on the Main Stage: Platinum on Fri. 7:30 p.m., PartyHardigan and Bad Medicine on Sat. and Maggie Speaks on Sun. (6 p.m.). The fireworks show is on Sun. at approx. 9:15 p.m.
Worth: Worth Days Festival runs Aug. 22-25. Thurs. is carnival day only. The fest features carnival rides, food, music, kids entertainment and fun. Headlining bands include Maggie Speaks on Fri. (9 p.m.), Infinity on Sat. (9 p.m.) and Hat Guys on Sun. (7 p.m.). The Worth Cruisers Car Club Show is on Sat. There is a fireworks show on Sun. at dusk.
