The suburbs of Chicago continue to hold summer/fall festivals on the first weekend after Labor Day, Sept. 6-7-8, 2013. Chicagoland festivals include fests in Darien, Geneva, Monee, Oak Lawn Village, Lockport, Bloomingdale and Lisle. Following are overviews of this weekend's fests.

Darien: DarienFest is a three day fest that runs Fri.-Sat.-Sun., Sept. 6-7-8, 2013 at Darien Community Park (71st & Clarendon Hills Road) in Darien. in DuPage County in the western suburbs of Chicago. Attractions include: Chicago Pet Show, Pet parade (Sat. noon-2 p.m.) and meet K-9 comfort dogs (Sat. noon-5 p.m.). Live bands include: R-Gang (Fri. 6:15 p.m), The Moods with special guest Abraha Rayford (Fri. 8:30 p.m.), Forget Hannah (Sat. 5:45 p.m.) and ARRA (Sat. 8:30 p.m.), The Redmonds (Sun. 4 p.m.) and Andrew Salgado (Sun. 7 p.m.). Darien Idol is on Sun.
Geneva: Geneva Festival of the Vine runs on Fri.-Sat.-Sun., Sept. 6-7-8, in the Fox Valley area. Geveva Festival of the Vine a Chicagoland celebration of food and wine
Monee: Village of Monee Fall Festival, in the southern suburbs of Chicago, is held Fri.-Sat.-Sun., Sept. 6-7-8, 2013. The fall fest features carnival rides, family fun, Bingo, live music on two stages. The parade (10 a.m.) and car show (11 a.m.) are on Sat.. The band lineup includes: American English Beatles Tribute Band (Fri.8:15 p.m.), Just Enough (Sat. 2:30 p.m.), Public Blues Band (Sat. 5:15 p.m.), Infinity (Sat. 8:15 p.m.), Morgan Street Band (Sun. 5:15 p.m.) and KO Bossy (Sun. 5:30 p.m.). The festival closes after the fireworks display on Sun. (8:45 p.m.).
Oak Lawn Village: Fall on the Green is a three day fest, Fri.-Sat.-Sun., Sept. 6-7-8 at 95th and Cook Ave. in Oak Lawn Village. The festival includes a children's play area, teen area food court and beer tent with stage for musical entertainment. The Main Stage presents the headlining acts, including: Maggie Speaks (Fri. 7:30 p.m.), American English (Sat. 7:30 p.m.) and CTA Chicago Tribute Band (Sun. 4:30 p.m.).
Highwood: Highwood Bloody Mary Fest is on Sat.-Sun., Sept. 7-8 in Highwood, a North Shore suburb of Chicago.
Lockport: Lockport Township Park District WWII Days is on Sat.-Sun., Sept. 7-8 at Dellwood Park, Rte 171 and Woods Dr., in Lockport, southwest of Chicago. The 3rd annual WWII Days features a reenactment of the historic March Toward Germany.
Bloomingdale: Septemberfest is a one day festival on Sat., Sept. 7, in the Village of Bloomingdale. The parade begins at 11 a.m., followed by the opening by Mayor and the posting of the colors by Bloomingdale VFW Post 7539, the National Anthem and honoring the troops. The celebration features roasted corn, corn husking, music, entertainment, a car show and a talent competition. The day of festivities is capped off with a performance by the popular Chicago area band Hi-Infidelity (7-10 p.m.).
Lisle: 8th Anniversary Block Party features food, drinks and music from live bands on Sat., Sept. 7. The band lineup includes: Serendipity (2 p.m.), 7th Heaven (4 p.m.), Friction (6 p.m.), Cover Gurl (8 p.m.) and Sixteen Candles (10 p.m.). Evviva Bar & Eatery at 1017 Front St. in Lisle, Ill., in the Southwestern suburbs of Chicago.
South Elgin: Scandinavian Day Festival in Vasa Park is a celebration of the cultures of Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Iceland. The one day fest in the western suburbs features ethnic food, dancing music and arts and crafts.
