Chicago area festivals, celebrating late summer/fall, are being held on the weekend of Sept. 12-15, 2013. Following are the highlights of the outdoor festivals in Dundee, Des Plaines, Antioch, Lake Zurich, Port Barrington , Forest Park and Chicago.
Dundee: Dundee Heritage Festival is a four day event, Thurs.-Sun., Sept. 12-15, in the Fox River Valley area in Kane County. The festival offers fun for the entire family, including carnival rides, car show, musical entertainment, kids activities, fireworks, a homecoming parade and much more. Des Plaines: Des Plaines Fall Fest, in the northwest suburbs, is a three day festival that features carnival rides, kids activities, pony rides, music and more. See: Des Plaines Fall Fest rocks NW suburbs of Chicago
Antioch: The 100 Year Street Dance caps off the Centennial celebration of 100 years of service by the Antioch Fire Dept on Sat., Sept. 14 (5 p.m.-midnight). Area bands “Bella Cain” and “Modern Day Romeos” will be playing alternating sets throughout the night in the far northwestern suburbs of Chicago.
Lake Zurich: Rock the Block is held on Sat., Sept. 14 (6-10 p.m.), in the northwestern suburbs. Rock the Block a new festival in Lake Zurich
Port Barrington: Fred Fest is held on Sat., Sept. 14 (1 p.m.-dusk) at Fox River Preserve and Marina (28500 Roberts Rd., Port Barrington) as a benefit for the Preservation Foundation of the Lake County Forest Preserve. The band lineup includes 16 Candles, Pat Mckillen, Sons of Bilder, Rod Tuffcurls and the Benchpress, Hudson McCoy and Jamie Laurita. Lawn tickets are $20 in advance and $30 at the gate.
McHenry: The 2nd Annual Montini Family Music Festival is being held on Sat., Sept. 14 (2-10 p.m.).The festival benefits the Montini Catholic School in McHenry. Chicago Bears Dan Hampton, Doug Buffone and Ed O'Bradovich will be on hand to meet and greet the crowd. The band lineup includes 7th Heaven, Friction and Serendipity. Food and refreshments will be available from local restaurants. Admission is $5, free for children 10 and under accompanied by adult. Raffle tickets for prizes will be available for $20. The festival is held at Petersen Park.. 4311 Lakewood Rd , McHenry, Ill.
Forest Park: Forest Park Ribfest is being held on Sat., Sept. 14 in the Village of Forest Park, in the southern suburbs of Chicago. The festival features a rib competition, food, beverages and entertainment. The band lineup includes: Caliente, Evolution, Mr. Big Stuff and Generation.
Chicago: Crush in Old Town is a two day event being held on Sat.-Sun., Sept. 14-15, on Wells St. The wine and beer tasting event also features food and music from local bands. The band lineup includes Trippin Billies, Rod Tuffurls & The Bench Press, Wedding Banned, Fortunate Sons, The Business and Generation. Tastings will be held in tented areas on Sat. (noon-8 p.m.) and Sun. (noon-7 p.m.). Passes cost $40 in advance; $45 on-site and allow you to sample up to 15 beers or wines.
Chicago: FisherFest is being held at St. John Parish (10234 S Washtenaw Ave., Chicago) Thurs.-Sun., Sept. 12-15. The festival features kids' fun, carnival rides, food and drink and musical entertainment. Bands play nightly. American English Beatles Tribute Band headlines Fri. night.
