Chicago area animal rescue on debut of Max A Pooch's Awesome Animal Advocates

Jackie Borchew of Orphans of the Storm Animal Rescue located in the Chicago Suburb of Lincolnshire, IL was was featured on Pet Life Radio's newest program, Max A Pooch's Awesome Animal Advocates on the show's February 3 debut on Pet Life Radio.

Borchew who is director of development and community outreach of Orphans of the Storm shared some of the interesting history of the shelter which is one of the oldest and largest animal rescues in the United States.

Some what she shared with the host of Max A Pooch's Awesome Animal Advocates was the fascinating story of Irene Castle, the founder of her organization. Castle was one of the best known entertainers of the early 20th century. Borchew also shared the story of the connection between Castle and the origin of the Chicago Blackhawks hockey team logo.

Today, according to Borchew the facility can house up to 500 cats and 200 dogs. When asked by Keith Sanderson the host of Max A Pooch's Awesome Animal Advocates about the type of animals waiting for adoption Borchew responded by saying, "We have the perfect cat or dog for anyone. Twenty-five percent of our dogs our full breed, and our staff can help match the right dog or cat with the right family."

Orphans of the Storm is located at 2200 Riverwoods Road in Lincolnshire, IL. They are open daily for adoptions (except for Christmas) between 11:00 am to 5 pm.
