One Alderman in Chicago is concerned with the increase of ER visits from energy drinks and it’s popularity with young people and wants the sale of energy drinks banned. It was reported that Chicago Alderman Ed M. Burke proposed that energy drinks not be distributed or sold in the city of Chicago.

The blanket ban could stop the sales of popular drinks such as Red Bull, Monster, Full Throttle and 5 Hour Energy; popular among teenagers and young adults. A federal survey just released a report this month, indicating that from 2007 to 2011 the number of emergency room visits involving energy drinks rose from about 10,000 to more than 20,000.
