OPENeducation at the UC Berkeley Art Museum
OPENeducation explores the educational legacy of Chez Panisse from its roots in the free speech movement to the blossoming of Edible Schoolyard programs around the country. OPENrestaurant has already begun to transform the outdoor spaces of the the Berkeley Art Museum into edible gardens – corn, squash, lettuces, herbs, and beans replace the typical groundcover in a familiar yet surprising way. These “three sisters” crops will be harvested at the event and used in interactive cooking installations where attendees are invited to collaborate with students, farmers, educators, cooks, and artists to create elements of a meal. Experience OPENeducation - the nexus of art and food as imagined by the next generation of Chez Panisse. Free and open to the public, with advance reservations, 11am-5pm.  Families welcome! This is an outdoor event, please dress accordingly. Bring your own water bottle to try out our mobile hydration stations! Reserve a space
