'Chevy Chase is the ultimate Christmas character'

See also

Chevy Chase is responsible for many classic film and television characters, but none more than the loveable goofball Clark Griswold. As the patriarch of the Vacation film series, he is at his best in National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation.

Clark Griswold has always dreamed of "having a fun old fashioned family Christmas." However that means dealing with the actual family. Clark's immediate family; wife Ellen (Beverly D'Angelo), son Rusty (Johnny Galecki), and daughter Audrey (Juliette Lewis), go along with Clark's grand plan even if it means making sacrifices and being in misery.

In laws are always a source of stress and is amped up with the arrival of Cousin Eddie, the essential loser with a heart of gold. Eddie (Randy Quaid) is the perfect foil to Clark's perfect Christmas, as is the rest of the family, however it is Eddie who brings out the best laughs from Clark.

Will Clark succeed in having that perfect family Christmas? Or will all the family, the lack of a bonus check, or Clark's over reaching expectations get in the way? The only answer is to watch Christmas Vacation and to find out.
