Chestnut Ridge Park, located at 6121 Chestnut Ridge Rd. in Orchard Park, plays host to visitors throughout the week for numerous winter activities, and the best thing about it is the price – it’s all free!
Chestnut Ridge Park is the home of four toboggan runs, which are open on Fridays from 4 to 8 p.m. and holidays and weekends from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The park also offers other winter sports activities, including sledding (hill open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.), snowboarding, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, hiking and cross-country skiing (ungroomed).
Chestnut Ridge will also host Winterfest 2014, taking place Sunday, January 26th from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will feature sledding, tobogganing, snowboarding, curling, arts and crafts, a snow sculpture contest from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., hayrides from noon to 3 p.m. ($3 per person) and magic shows by Rian Lehman at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.
For more information on any of these activities, visit Chestnut Ridge’s page on the Erie County Parks website. Find information on other Erie County parks and their activities for winter at the Erie County Parks website.
