Brian's exclusive forecast for Annapolis: Cloudy today with occasional rain showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Partial clearing possible later this afternoon. The high will be in the upper 60s to near 70. South winds to 10 to 15 with higher gusts. Rainfall amounts will generally be less than 1/4 inch. Becoming mostly clear overnight with a low in the low 50s. Mostly sunny and breezy on Saturday with a high around 65. The outlook for Sunday calls for a mostly sunny sky and cooler temperatures with lows around 40 and highs in the upper 50s.
A low pressure system moving through the Great Lakes region and its trailing cold front are the main features on the morning weather map. Temperatures are in the mid to upper 60s this morning, which is more representative of lows in summer. The warm, moist, southerly flow will continue until the front moves across the bay later this afternoon. Rain showers will be mostly light; however, there may be some embedded heavier showers and isolated thundershowers. Winds will come out of the south at 10 to 15 with some gusts over 25. High pressure will build over the weekend with cooler temperatures, although Saturday will be pleasant with sunshine and highs in the 60s. The coolest day will be on Sunday with highs only in the mid to upper 50s. Temperatures are expected to moderate once again next week with highs in the 60s.
On the Maryland portion of Chesapeake Bay, a Gale Warning is in effect until noon today and a Small Craft Advisory is in effect from noon until 6 p.m. this evening. Winds today will come out of the south at 10 to 20 knots with gusts over 30 knots and waves from 2 to 4 feet. Winds tonight will come out of the northwest at 10 knots with wavs around one foot. Winds on Saturday will come out of the west/northwest at 10 knots with waves around one foot. Waves on Saturday night will come out of the northwest at 10 to 15 knots with gusts over 20 and waves from 1 to 2 feet.
