Brian's exclusive forecast for Annapolis: Intervals of clouds and sunshine today. Mild and breezy with a high around 70. West winds around 10 with a few higher gusts. Mostly cloudy and colder with scattered showers overnight and a low in the mid to upper 40s. West wind around 10. Becoming mostly sunny on Sunday, but cooler with a high in the low to mid 50s. North wind 10 to 20 with a few higher gusts. Clear and cold Sunday night with a low around 32, except mid 30s right along the bay shore. Breezy and cool on Monday under a mostly sunny sky. The high will only be in the upper 40s. Looking ahead, a warming trend is expected next week with highs rebounding into the 60s by the middle of the week.
A cold front continues to push south of the area today. Temperatures are still quite mild with early afternoon readings in the upper 60s to lower 70s. An upper-air trough will bring some clouds and showers to the region overnight before high pressure builds over the bay area on Sunday. Much colder air will overspread the area tonight through Monday with highs on Sunday nearly 20 degrees cooler than today, and highs on Monday may struggle to climb out of the upper 40s. Windy conditions will make it feel even cooler. Temperatures on Monday morning may drop below freezing inland, with areas right along the bay shore in the middle 30s. Milder air returns next week with highs expected to reach the 60s again by the middle of the week.
On the Maryland portion of Chesapeake Bay, a Small Craft Advisory is in effect through Sunday night. Winds today will come out of the west at 10 to 15 knots with gusts over 20 and waves up to 2 feet. Winds tonight will come out of the northwest at 10 to 15 knots with gusts over 20 and waves up to 2 feet. Winds on Sunday will come out of the north at 10 to 20 knots with higher gusts and waves up to 3 feet. Rain showers may reduce visibilities on Saturday evening.
