High pressure is currently sitting off the Atlantic coastline this morning. A southerly flow of air around the high will produce warm and humid conditions today with highs in the upper 80s. Although these readings are above average, today's weather is not all that unusual for late August on the bay. There is a slight risk of an afternoon thunderstorm, but it looks like today will be dry for most of us. There is a better chance for thunderstorms on Sunday with a shortwave trough moving through the area and destabilizing the atmosphere. Sunday's highs may touch 90 degrees. Moving ahead to Monday, it looks like a cold front will approach the bay from the west. This will result in widespread thunderstorms during the afternoon. It will be hot with a high around 90, perhaps in the low 90s in some areas. In the wake of the cold front, slightly cooler and drier air for Tuesday and Wednesday is expected with overnight lows in the upper 50s to lower 60s and highs in the upper 70s to lower 80s.
