Forecast for Annapolis: Mostly cloudy today with occasional rain showers, then clearing later in the day. A high temperature of 79 degrees is expected. The sky will clear tonight with a low around 63. On Saturday, look for a mostly sunny sky with a high around 80.
At 1130 a.m., a wide area of rain showers is progressing eastward toward Baltimore and Annapolis. These showers will overspread the region during the next one to two hours. Although the rain is not particularly heavy, there may be some moderate showers embedded within the system. We had expected today to be a mostly sunny day, but the cold front is taking its time crossing the bay, and we'll have to deal with the clouds and showers through at least the early afternoon hours. There may be some clearing by late afternoon as the front moves eastward. Due to the clouds and rain, temperatures will only reach the upper 70s this afternoon, and then fall back into the low to mid 60s by Saturday morning under a mostly clear sky. The weekend weather looks nice with sunshine, low humidity, and mild temperatures. Highs each day will be in the low 80s with overnight lows in the low 60s. Winds will be light and mainly out of the north on Saturday, shifting to the south on Sunday.
On the Maryland portion of Chesapeake Bay, there are no advisories currently in effect. Winds today will come out of the north at around 10 knots with waves 1 to 2 feet. Tonight, winds will continue out of the north at 10 knots with waves 1 to 2 feet. Boaters should be prepared for rain showers and reduced visibilities at times this afternoon. Marine weather information is provided only as a guide. Boaters should always stay tuned to the latest forecasts and advisories from the National Weather Service.
