Brian's exclusive forecast for Annapolis: Mostly sunny, windy, and cold today with a high in the upper 40s. Northeast wind 10 to 15 with occasional gusts over 20. Variable cloudiness but not as cold tonight with a low in the mid to upper 30s. Intervals of clouds and sunshine on Tuesday with a high in the mid to upper 50s. The extended outlook calls for mostly cloudy conditions on Wednesday with lows in the low 50s and highs in the upper 60s. Rain showers on Thursday with a low in the lower 50s and a high in the mid 60s. Mostly sunny on Friday and Saturday with lows in the mid 40s and highs in the upper 50s.
A chilly morning on Chesapeake Bay with the mercury reflecting temperatures ranging from the upper 20s inland to the mid and upper 30s closer to the still-mild waters of the bay. Occasional breezy conditions are making it feel even colder. Temperatures at 7 a.m. include 33 at Baltimore, 36 at Washington, 39 at Annapolis, 39 at Richmond, 34 at Ocean City, 32 at Easton, 32 at Frederick and 43 at Virginia Beach. Cold high pressure overhead will ensure a mostly sunny, but windy and cold Monday with afternoon highs only in the upper 40s. Those who are not yet ready for cold weather will take solace in the fact that a warming trend is on the way. As high pressure moves offshore and a southerly flow develops, temperatures will rebound into the 50s on Tuesday and 60s on Wednesday and Thursday. The next cold front approaches the area by Thursday with widespread showers expected across the area. High pressure returns later next week with sunshine and cooler temperatures.
On the Maryland portion of Chesapeake Bay, a Small Craft Advisory is in effect through Monday afternoon. Winds today will come out of the northeast at 10 to 20 knots with gusts over 20 and waves up to 3 feet. Winds tonight will shift to the southeast at 10 to 15 knots with waves up to 2 feet. On Tuesday winds will come out of the southeast at 10 knots with waves around one foot. Boaters should always stay tuned to the latest forecasts and advisories from the National Weather Service.
