The low will be in the upper 20s and the high will be near 40. Clouds and sun on Sunday with a chance of rain or snow showers. the low will be in the upper 20s and the high will be in the mid 30s.

Today felt more like winter on Chesapeake Bay with breezy conditions and highs only in the 40s, instead of the 50s to near 60 that we experienced over the weekend. Winds will diminish overnight with the mercury dipping into the upper 20s by Tuesday morning. Tuesday will begin with a mostly cloudy sky and scattered snow showers due to an upper-level disturbance swinging through the region. A dusting of snow is possible in some areas; however, the sky will clear by afternoon with thermometer readings in the upper 30s. Meanwhile, a weak area of low pressure will develop near the North Carolina coast on Tuesday night. This low may spread light precipitation into central and southern Maryland as well as eastern Virginia on Wednesday morning. The temperature profile will be cold enough to support all snow in this area, but snowfall amounts look to be rather light in the Annapolis area. At the very most, an inch of fresh snow may accumulate on unpaved surfaces and remind us that we are still in the month of February. Once the low moves off to the northeast, the sky will clear on Wednesday afternoon. Sunshine and cool temperatures return for Thursday and Friday with lows in the 20s and highs in the 30s. Average daytime highs for this time of year is in the upper 40s, so these readings are below where they should be this time of year. The upcoming weekend looks unsettled depending on the development of a potential storm system to our south. For now, we can expect clouds and sun on Saturday and Sunday with a slight chance of rain or snow showers.

On the Maryland portion of Chesapeake Bay, a Small Craft Advisory is in effect until midnight tonight. Winds tonight will come out of the northwest at 10 to 20 knots with gusts over 25 knots and waves from 1 to 3 feet. Winds on Tuesday will come out of the west at 10 knots with waves around one foot. A slight chance of snow flurries late in the day. Winds on Tuesday night will come out of the west at 10 knots with waves around one foot. Visibility may be reduced in snow and fog. Marine information is provided as general guidance. Boaters should always stay tuned to the latest forecasts and advisories from the National Weather Service.

The average high temperature for February 24 is 47 degrees and the average low is 28 degrees. The records at Baltimore on this date are 79 degrees in 1985 and 2 degrees in 1873. Today's sunrise will occur at 6:46 and the sunset will occur at 5:53. Weather data courtesy of the National Weather Service.
