‘Dancing With The Stars’ pro Cheryl Burke shared her most recent slim down with People Magazine on May 22. Burke will be featured in People’s Hollywood’s Hottest Bodies Bodies 2014 special issue in which she reveals her new slimmer body and weight loss secrets.
The 30-year-old has been known for her weight to fluctuate throughout her ten years as a dancing pro on ‘DWTS’ and admits it was easier to slim down in her 20’s. Burke shared that she went up to 135 pounds since the start of season 17 while coaching reality tv star Jack Osbourne.
A number of stars who have participated in the show have credited their weight loss to the strenuous training sessions required to rehearse before performances. Burke says she also benefits from the training as she may lose up to 7 pounds during her time on the show.
Burke has been working with trainer Brendan Johnston and credits his circuit training routines for her weight loss. Johnston incorporates muscle confusion to shock the body, which is known to be the quickest and most effective approach to weight loss and toning.
Burke shared that finding a workout partner also helps with consistency as the partnership creates accountability. The dancing pro says when she is not on the dance floor she works out with her new buddy actress Leah Remini.
Portion control is also important in maintaining her weight in between seasons, Burke shares. In order to avoid weight gain she eats half of what she normally eats to stay fit.
Burke authored a book called Dancing Lessons: How I Found Passion and Potential on the Dance Floor and in Life. In the book Burke opens up about her life as a dance, choreography and even shares her experience of physical abuse as a child. She also shares her past issues with her weight and how she stays healthy.
