Cher fans were in for a treat on Monday night’s episode of "Dancing With the Stars". The 67-year-old mega-star opened DWTS with “Believe”, replaced Len Goodman at the judges’ table, and each couple danced their individual routines to a hit from one of music’s biggest icons.
Last Monday’s disappointing elimination of Snooki on DWTS brought to light the importance of viewer’s votes, as Nicole had received high judges marks, but was still sent home. This week’s two-hour episode seemed to be filled with more commercial breaks than actual dancing, and when the couples danced, “Dancing with the Stars” was once again full of the typical mediocre performances.
Seven couples competed in a dance-off challenge, which followed the individual dance routines. Amber and Derek had the highest scores of the night and were automatically safe, therefore the duo did not have to perform in the dance-off challenge.
Corbin chose to compete against Elizabeth, and the couples danced the Cha Cha, with Corbin and Karina the declared winners. Brant selected Leah in the dance-off and the competitors danced Rhumba. Leah and Tony won the round and earned three extra points. Jack and Bill both danced Disco, Jack dominated Bill, yet despite having the lowest scores of the evening and losing the dance-off challenge, Bill and Emma were once again shocked to learn they were safe from elimination. Are DWTS viewers actually watching the show?
The recap of the evening is below. Corbin and Jack moved to the top spot and tied for first place.
- Corbin and Karina Argentine Tango: 27 + 3 = 30
- Jack and Cheryl Tango: 27 + 3 = 30
- Amber and Derek Rhumba: 28
- Leah and Tony Viennese Waltz: 25 + 3 = 28
- Brant and Peta Fox Trot: 27 (Eliminated)
- Elizabeth and Val Jazz: 25
- Bill and Emma Disco: 24
Comedian Bill Engvall and his rusty disco dance stayed in the DWT competition, with Brant Daugherty receiving the high-heeled boot. Six couples, minus Brant and Peta, return to “Dancing With the Stars” next Monday on ABC. Viewers of the dancing reality TV show must vote to see the best advance.
