Cher Lloyd announces 'Sorry I'm Late' release date and 'Sirens' radio premiere

On March 5, 2014, Cher Lloyd announced on her official Internet outlets (website, Twitter, Facebook, etc.) that her second album, "Sorry I'm Late," will be released on May 27, 2014. Meanwhile, she also announced that the U.S. radio premiere of "Sirens" is set for 8 a.m. EDT on Sirius XM Hits 1 on March 14, 2014. "Sirens" is set for release on iTunes on March 17, 2014.

Lloyd is having a hard time overcoming her status as a one-hit wonder in the United States. Her song "I Wish" (featuring T.I.) was released in the U.S. on Sept. 2, 2013, and it was a huge flop. The song failed to make it on Billboard Hot 100 chart. "I Wish" (the first single from "Sorry I'm Late") has been nominated for Catchiest New Song for the 2014 Radio Disney Music Awards.

Lloyd came in fourth place on "The X Factor" U.K. in 2010. Her first album, "Sticks & Stones," debuted at No. 9 on the Billboard 200 chart in October 2012, but so far the album hasn't even reached gold certification in the U.S.

Lloyd's first U.S. single, "Want U Back," peaked at No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and sold 2 million copies in the U.S. in 2012. But her follow-up U.S. singles ("Oath" and "With Ur Love") from "Sticks & Stones" were flops, even though Lloyd has spent several months promoting her music in America. "Oath" peaked at No. 99 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, while "With Ur Love" didn't even make it onto that chart. She also teamed up with Ne-Yo for the duet "It's All Good."

In the U.K., Lloyd has had Top 40 hits with her first three U.K. singles "Swagger Jagger" (No. 1 in the U.K.), "With Ur Love" (No. 4 in the U.K.) and "Want U Back" (No. 25).

"Sorry I'm Late" was originally planned for release in 2013, but true to its title, the album's release was postponed.

As previously reported, in September 2013, Lloyd headlined a U.S. tour, with girl group Fifth Harmony as the opening act. Fifth Harmony (which is also signed to Syco/Epic) came in third place on "The X Factor" U.S. in 2012.

Lloyd is an opening act of Demi Lovato's "Neon Lights" tour from March 20 to March 30, 2014. Fifth Harmony is also an opening act on the tour.
