When Marisa Ramirez arrived on the “Prosecuting Casey Anthony” set in Winnipeg (Canada) to shoot her scenes with Rob Lowe, she had already had her “OMG it’s Rob Lowe! experience” so she immediately felt comfortable with him. Ramirez first met Lowe when she guest starred as a pregnant patient on Lowe’s TV series Dr. Vegas. Although its been several years, the actress still recalls being more than a little star struck while shooting a scene that required her to be lying on a table in her bra, being examined by “Rob Lowe!” Now, she plays his on screen wife Rita in the true-life Lifetime TV movie “Prosecuting Casey Anthony”. Lowe stars as Jeff Ashton, one of the Florida attorneys who prosecuted Casey Anthony, a young mother charged with murdering her 2-year old daughter Caylee. Casey Anthony was acquitted in 2011.
Ramirez says that the storyline was emotionally tough for cast and crew, but credits Lowe for bringing levity to the set with his good humor and easygoing charm. The actors' chemistry is undeniable, and again, Ramirez praises Lowe for setting the tone for collaboration and discovery. Whatever the reason, their scenes work wonderfully to energize the overall storyline and reveal a compelling dynamic between the Ashtons.
