Although Fabio Coentrao only joined Real Madrid in the summer of 2011, the £27 million man already looks set to be the subject of a January fire sale for the Spanish giants. According to TalkSport on Jan. 3, 2013 the club is reportedly considering offers for the player.
One such offer is believed to be from Chelsea in the English Premier League. Long serving leftback Ashley Cole for the Blues is believed on his way out and the 24-year-old Coentrao is thought a solid solution as the current replacement.
Young Ryan Bertrand has been a solid stand in at times, but his development is more important than throwing him in the first team all of a sudden week in and week out. Coentrao’s ability to play a high line attacking wingback was the Blues interested in his versatility down the left hand flank.
His youth also sees him as a primary target to find someone to be a long serving player alongside Eden Hazard on the left flank in hopes of creating one of the best young pairings in the world. With Madrid believed to be looking to sell, there is no telling just what price he could even go for.
