Chelsea Handler partners with Netflix for new talk show

Chelsea Handler knows how to keep people talking. It was announced a few weeks ago that her talk show, “Chelsea Lately” would be ending months earlier than expected. Handler has been vocal about her issues with the E! network, so the news didn't come as a surprise. The next step in her career had fans talking, but no one knew for sure where Handler was headed. According to a June 19 report from New York Times, Chelsea Handler has struck a deal with Netflix to host a talk show. The deal includes working for seven years and plenty of money.

Fans of “Chelsea Lately” can attest to the fact that Chelsea Handler is a little crude and outspoken. She says what she means and she means what she says. Her show has been on the air for several years, and quite a fan base has been built around it. Handler is a very funny lady even though she does make some poor choices with some of her jokes. There is never a dull moment if Handler is around, and that carries over into her television presence.

Even though the press has not been very nice to Chelsea Handler, social media has been buzzing in her favor. The Twitter feed for “Chelsea Handler” is full of excited fans who cannot wait to see what Handler and Netflix come up with. There are a few mean comments about the comedienne, but that is nothing out of the ordinary for someone like Handler. While CBS and E! have decided not to work with Handler, Netflix is excited to have her along for the ride.

The new talk show featuring Chelsea Handler is set to hit Netflix in 2016. This gives Handler approximately 18 months in between the debut and the ending of “Chelsea Lately.” If all goes well, this could easily be the biggest deal Netflix has going for them and one that could stand to make their subscriptions jump even higher.
