Chelsea Clinton is pregnant with her first child which means that former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will become grandparents for the first time before long. According to a UPI report on Thursday evening, the former first daughter – Chelsea – and her husband Marc Mezvinsky have made the baby news public. As can be imagined, the former first family is extremely excited over the news.

The former secretary of state as well as having been a United States senator from New York, Mrs. Clinton took to Twitter’s social media platform to congratulate her daughter. Chelsea’s dad, the former president, also added that he is excited to add a new line to his Twitter bio which is now grandfather-to-be. He went on to write on Twitter that he and his wife are so happy for Chelsea and Marc.

As far as the new mother-to-be, Chelsea stated that her husband Marc and she are very excited that they have their first child arriving later this year. Chelsea and Marc were married in 2010. Her statement continued by saying that she certainly feels all the better – whether the baby is a girl or a boy – that she or he will grow up in a world full of so many strong young female leaders. So thank you, she stated, for inspiring me and thank you for inspiring future generations including the one that we’ll be lucky enough to welcome into our family later this year.

Chelsea, 34 years old, made the surprise announcement at a Clinton Foundation event, according to a Huffington Post report. She concluded her comments regarding the future baby’s birth with a strong compliment to her mother. Chelsea said that she just hopes that she will be as good a mom to her child, and hopefully children, as her mom was to her.
