Thirty-one teams are about to prove they can handle the heat of the kitchen. Find out who at the “Chefs on Fire” community block party on Sunday, May 2.
Picture it: 31 chefs and 31 firefighters battling it out in an outdoor grilling competition for charity (that’s one chef for every one firefighter for those of you doing the math). The event is free to those attending the daytime event and will feature concessions from area restaurants, fire safety education, family-friendly activities and the first half of the Chefs on Fire grilling competition.
Some of the leading chef’s in the area will be a part of the event, including chefs Mo Assi and Matt Melton of Lawry’s, The Prime Rib, Omar Flores of Abacus and Jesse Alvarez with Wolfgang Puck Catering.
The evening VIP party is $75/person and includes the Chefs on Fire championship cook-off, live entertainment, drinks and tastings prepared by the Epicurean World Master Chefs Society. Check it out in the Knox Street District at McKinney Avenue and Armstrong, directly behind Abacus from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Hosted by the Texas Chefs Association and Dallas Fire-Rescue, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Parkland Burn Center in Dallas, Texas, the second largest in the U.S. Parkland’s Burn Center is recognized internationally for its surgical expertise and rehabilitation to burn survivors.
