Chef Doug Knopp's gingerbread villages at the Chateau on the Lake, Branson

Gingerbread lovers will be delighted in the gingerbread villages that Executive Chef Doug Knopp of Chateau on the Lake will create for the holiday season.

To create the half-dozen or so villages the chef uses more than 600 pounds of royal icing, 500 pounds of chocolate, 400 candy canes as well as other miscellaneous items, including gumdrops, pretzels, licorice and more.

The gingerbread villages are culinary works of art. Children and adults alike will ooh and aah as they view the Chef s creations showcasing European,Victorian and log cabin styled villages and steeple churches.

The atrium is the hub of holiday activities. A rare Italian porcelain nativity set shares a spotlight with the gingerbread holiday scene. Of course, Saint Nick joins in on the fun as he descends into the atrium. A dozen or more beautifully decorated Christmas trees paint a holiday card scene.

You won’t want to miss the local school choirs that come and go during the holiday season as their sweet voices echo in the atrium and bring a smile to all that come to hear their Christmas cheer.
