Chef Andrew Davis has found a home at POUR, a modern urban restaurant known for its libations. POUR bills itself as a place of “cosmopolitan cuisine,” which Chef Davis defines as “big city dining experience in a small city.”

Known for its libations, POUR offers half price on wine bottles on Thursdays, according to General Manager Eric Garmen. The wine and beer list is quite exhaustive.

The clientele through the week is normally a chic crowd of young couples. Most are from the city. The atmosphere is intimate throughout the week and on Sunday evenings.

The menu and the clientele differ on Sundays though. Each week the Sunday Brunch offers delicious treats like coffee cake, a stuffed brioche French toast, chicken and biscuits, and chocolate chip pancakes. Sunday Brunch is one of Chef Davis’ favorite meals each week. It is a more playful time, welcoming families. Brunch is held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Chef Davis intends to keep the menu fresh, changing out dishes depending on what is in season. Fish dishes and pastries are his favorite to create. He considers, as many higher end chefs do, food to be art. Taste is important, naturally but so is presentation and Chef Davis presents well.

Duck fat fries and the short ribs are signature dishes of POUR. The charcuterie boards are also local favorites. The “well received” Chocolate Fantasy desert is Chef Davis’ signature dessert.

“I am at the (Lancaster Central) Market every single day it’s open,” said Chef Davis who prefers to buy local when possible.

Chef Davis replaced Andrew Aho as executive chef last month. He was Aho’s sous chef. Originally from Coatesville, Chef Davis graduated Garden Spot High School. He then graduated from Culinary School at York Technical Institute (YTI). Before settling back down in Lancaster, he traveled and cooked for a large resort in Florida. He also spent some time in California.

Nestled amid art galleries, POUR is located at 114 North Prince Street, behind the Artisan Gallery. Enter through the adjoining courtyard. In warmer weather the courtyard is opened up for outside dining. Parking is on-street or in the Prince Street Garage literally across the street. For more information, visit www.pouronprince.com.
