As of January 16, 2013 the Center for Science in the public interest named the Cheesecake Factory as the highest calorie food with their “food porn” dish bistro shrimp pasta. This dish contains fried shrimp accompanied with pasta dredged in butter and cream sauce.
The Center for Science in the public interest is a non-for-profit organization that focuses on bringing awareness and education of food to consumers and food safety. Their primary focus is to bring awareness of all the junk in your food, hidden fat and give you sound nutritional advice. They can be considered the real food police, as they have taken a vested interest in American’s food consumption of high calories, empty calories foods and the “food porn” list of foods and drinks.
The Cheesecake Factory bistro shrimp pasta has 3,120 calories which is 1,100 more than the daily recommended caloric intake from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). With one single serving of this meal in one setting how can Americans not reach the height of obesity?
These foods may be tantalizing to the palate for the moment; however what it does to your waistline, blood pressure, and cholesterol can be something that leads to some serious health problems and can have you taking medication for a long time.
In an effort for Americans to stay healthy and fit awareness is the key of how much calories, fat, sodium is in the foods we eat.
The restaurant chains want to lure customers in with their “food porn” so they will offer bigger portion of meals loaded with so much saturated fat helping to make consumer overweight and possibly sick. So before you eat at your favorite restaurant chain, look into the caloric intake and fat content of the food you are thinking about purchasing and then think twice if it’s worth the extra weight you may incur.
The Cheesecake Factory is not just known for their delicious cheesecakes, but also for their large for portion food. With over 200 items to choose from at the Cheesecake Factory it gives you a wide selection to choose from except that majority of the food at this establishment is fried and loaded with saturated fat.
