Cheeseburger Challenge Pasadena 2014 winners announced

The results of the third annual Pasadena Cheeseburger Challenge were announced Wednesday by Pasadena Restaurant Week. Cheeseburger Week, sponsored by the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce, is tribute to the creation of the cheeseburger by Lionel Sternberger at the Rite Spot Café in Pasadena in 1924.

Participation in Cheeseburger Week and the Cheeseburger Challenge is limited to Pasadena Chamber member restaurants as a benefit of membership.

About two dozen restaurants offered their own special creations, and patrons voted in different categories. The results list the top four vote-getters in each category, unless there were fewer than four entries. Total votes received by each of the favorites are also listed. Not every restaurant was entered in every category and not every patron voted in each category.

Pasadena Chamber CEO Paul Little said, “The Cheeseburger Challenge is similar to ‘liking’ a Facebook page. We don’t intend to identify the best, finest or tastiest in any category…. We don’t presume to identify one burger as being superior to another, simply the ones that garner the most fan votes.”

Here are the results of the 2014 Cheeseburger Challenge. Not every voter participated in each category and different categories had widely divergent numbers of entries.
