Cheerleader half court shot: 21-year-old's video goes viral

A cheerleader nailed a half court shot during halftime at a men's basketball game at William Carey University in Hattiesburg, Miss. this week. On Feb. 22, Sports Illustrated reported that Ashlee Arnau, 21, did a pretty amazing "trick" that has gone viral on the internet today.

"The ball was placed on the floor at midcourt. Arnau approached it with a running start, did a front-flip, grabbing the ball while she was upside down, and then launching it toward the basket while her legs swung forward," Sports Illustrated reported. Shockingly, Arnau got the ball in the hoop - and she didn't rely on the backboard or the rim to help her out at all. It was all net.

The cheerleader's half court shot is really something to watch. Arnau told the media that she does not practice these types of tricks much. She has tried to make this shot at every game this season but she has never gotten the ball in -- well, once, but she said that it bounced in and that's not what she wanted. It took her four "practice" shots before she got her "swish" on her fifth attempt on Thurs. night.

Arnau is going to be attempting the shot again at the Globetrotters' game next week. It is unknown how she is going to "prepare" to do this again, but now that she's done it once, it may come easier for her -- the confidence will undoubtedly help.
