Cheering for Former Buccaneer

It’s down to the NFL’s final four. NFL fans will tell you its the best weekend of the year. However, it's going to be hard to beat last weekend's action. What’s new? With the exception of the Atlanta Falcons it’s just like last year. Who are cheering to make the super showdown?

Football fans of 28 other teams only have a couple days to jump on a bandwagon or player(s) to cheer for.

Are Tampa Bay Buccaneer fans cheering for Aqib Talib to defend the game winning pass covering Baltimore's Anquan Boldin? Or because of the breakup between the Bucs and Talib you as a fan you could care less about him and will tune in because you love football. Tampa Bay needed Talib and any secondary help after starting 6-4 in 2012. But they didn't need his 'tude'.

Talib’s off the field problems did not help his cause to stay in the pewter and red. Now his Patriot colors are just one game from playing for a NFL title.

Regardless of whether Buc fans want to see Talib become a champion, barring any offseason movement, Talib could be lining up against Tampa Bay receivers next season.

Talib has been a difference for the Patriots secondary and its just mind boggling how the coach that says little and/or mumbles can receive so much from his players. Then again that’s the Patriot way.

Ravens’ Offensive Coordinator Jim Caldwell has noticed the play of Talib.

“He’s done a pretty good job of locking the other guys down,” Caldwell said during a media briefing on Thursday. It’s too bad the Bucs or the coaching staff could not motivate Talib to play the “new” Buc ball way.

The fan consensus seem to be rooting for or against Ray Lewis and the Ravens or Tony Gonzalez and the Falcons. It would be fitting for two future NFL Hall of Famers to end their careers in an epic duel in New Orleans.

How about the epic dual for the Harbaugh brothers? It almost happened last year. I’m leaning that direction. The only thing better than a family football feud on the coaching sidelines- is the Manning boys calling plays in the huddle.

I guess we’ll have to cheer for that super showdown next season. I’m cheering Niners-Ravens. Who are you cheering for?
