Our food supply is not what it used to be. Plants are often grown in nutrient depleted soil, and are sprayed with chemicals, insecticides, and pesticides. It is becoming more necessary to supplement our diets to ensure our bodies are getting what they need for optimal health. This is my personal take on what it means to be a high quality supplement.
Absorbability- Many multi-vitamins and supplements come as drops of synthetic vitamins on a multodextrin medium, which the body can't digest. Look for supplements that are liquid, or are in vegetarian capsules for easier absorption. The important thing is, the nutrition is as nature designed it, not synthetic or man-made.
Source- Make sure the supplements come from a clean source. Just because it has "organic" slapped on the label, does not mean that it's high quality. Some organic ingredients are grown in depleted soil and/or are genetically modified. However, you're safer buying organic than buying commercially grown supplements. Wild harvested foods can be high quality if you are sure they are harvested in a sustainable way, and in an environment far from roads, toxins, and pollutants. For example, plants that are wild harvested from deep in the Amazon rainforest are taken from a completely clean and rich source.
Companies with a cause- Money is energy. What you put your money towards is what you support. Find a company who is contributing by using some of their profits to give back to people and the planet.
Green- Healthy people make a healthy earth, and a healthy earth makes healthy people. Buy from green companies, with green consciousness, who use recyclable and/or (even better) biodegradable bottles and containers.
Purity- Many products have chemical additives, coloring, and flavorings. Go with what's pure. If you are buying a product for it's healthy ingredients, buy products with only healthy ingredients in them. If you don't know what an ingredient is, find out... Google it and contact the Co.
Ask your body- Try muscle testing (Applied Kinesiology.) This is a method of getting your mind out of the way, to enable you to listen to your body's wisdom. See the video below for a mini explanation and a simple self testing tutorial.
Research proven- Make sure there is scientific and experiential data to back up the claims.
Process- Make sure the supplements are whole foods, not altered or fractionated, fumigated, pasteurized, or irradiated. Find out how products are processed. Make sure they are made in a clean way, with the integrity of the botanical still in tact.
Networking companies- If you find a product that you really believe in, it has made all the checks on this list, and it is a network marketing company, I say you've found a great opportunity. I believe network marketing is a great way to promote prosperity for all. When I find something that I'm really excited about, naturally, I tell people about it. I have no problem with a company that wants to send people money for sharing a good thing. Also, with a good networking company, you are prosperous by helping other people to be prosperous.
Keep in mind that you don't actually have to have the supplement in front of you to test for it. You can get a yes or no response just by thinking about the product you are testing for. Your body knows what it needs more than anyone else...

Great information! Many people think that just because supplements are natural (well, sometimes!) they can't do any harm. This is not the case! Find a trustworthy source to advise you on products that have proper concentrations & ratios of nutrients, quality ingredients and no harmful fillers!
