Check Yourself Boo!!

What if God treated us like we treat him? What if God was sometiming and backstabbing like some of us are? We would not follow his commands and our trust level would be zero.

There are times when we have to check ourselves. We live in a society of the "me mentality." We are so worried about ourselves until we lose focus of others. At some point, you have to know when to check yourself. Could it be that your not conscious of your behavior or could it be you are just that selfish and only concerned about yourself and your people?

When I think of checking myself, I remember the story of James and John's mother. She wanted to make sure that Jesus took care of her boys. She boldly asked him to sit one on his left side and one on his right side. Some of you may say she was a concerned mother. Yes, she was concerned about her two boys. But on the other hand, she was selfish because she forgot about the other ten disciples.

Another check yourself example is the story of David and Bathsheba. David was so mesmerized by her beauty and her persona. He was in a lustful self mode by putting her husband on the frontline to be killed.

There are more random acts of selfishness in bible. But God has a way of dealing with these random acts of selfishness. My question to you is "Who is Checking You Boo?"

I grew up in a household where caring for others was a lesson learned. As I got older, I understood the principle of giving unto others as you would have them give unto you. Sometimes our actions and words can definitely mess up the fabric of our blessing if we don't check ourselves.

It amazes me how we treat people with our random acts of selfishness. It's like we have been burned by selfish people who killed the giver in us. So we build a brick wall and mistreat people because we were burned. We make people pay for mistakes that someone else did. So we walk around bitter and not trusting of individuals.

It reminds me of the times when I got burned by people. But I learned that it would never affect the fabric of who I am. Some of us walk around with so many wounds that we allow these wounds to dictate our future.

It amazes me how we pray for a husband or a wife who will love us unconditionally. When they come, we make them pay for all the mistakes that Joe Blow or Jada Blow have done.
We pray for God to bless us financially and yet we rob him of his tithes and offering. We pray for God to heal our bodies and free us from diabetes, high blood pressure, cholesterol issues. But yet we still do the wrong stuff.

How can you expect to be blessed when you don't check yourself?

We strive to live a healthy life. Start now by trimming the excess fat from your life. When I say excess fat, I am talking about old wounds, old habits and things that are preventing you from being happy.

Well! God has forgiven us of all our wrongs. If he can forgive and forget, then why can't we.

Check yourself before you wreck yourself!!!
