If you are looking for a way to get over the hump this coming hump day, check out these two Des Moines music events.
On Wednesday, Colorado-based roots rock band Von Stomper will drop by the Gas Lamp for a 9 p.m. show. The band is taking pre-orders now through their website for their self-titled debut album. You can check out the band in action in the nearby video. Opening for Von Stomper will be Ames "surrealistic blues experience" Electric Jury. The show has a $5 cover and is a 21-plus event.
Also on April 16, the Des Moines Music Coalition will hold a DMMC 101 event at Vaudeville Mews starting at 5:45 p.m. The event will give a brief overview of what the DMMC does, talk about volunteer opportunities, hold a townhall discussion on what people would like to see the organization do in the future, introduce local musicians, offer networking opportunities, and more. The evening will also feature a performance by Des Moines pop/rock group Foxholes. DMMC 101 is free and open to all ages.
