Kick off the Labor Day weekend by meeting a few great dogs. Saturday, September 4 is a great day to visit one of these adoption events.
In DC, Lucky Dog Animal Rescue will not only have some of their dogs at the Old City Green, but will also be serving wine and cheese. The event will be from 5pm to 7pm. Old City Green is located at 9th and N in NorthWest near Wagtime and the Convention Center.
At the Washington Animal Rescue League you can find your new best friend at a discount! Now through Labor Day, Certain Pit Bulls and Pit Bull mixes are available at 50% of the regular adoption fee. Additionally, 6 weeks of free training, free id tags and a free harness come with these special dogs. For that Red, White and Blue Bully for You event, visit WARL between 11am and 8pm by September 6.
And on Capitol Hill, stop by Chateau-Animaux on 8th Street SE, to meet a few of the friendly dogs available from the Washington Humane Society. You can meet them from 1pm to 3:30pm.
Maryland and Virginia have their share of events, too. In Maryland, the Petco in Rockville is the place to meet some of the dogs from the Partnership for Animal Welfare. They will be there from noon to 2pm. And the Petco in Waldorf will also have rescue dogs from Patuxent Animal Welfare Society, starting at 11am.
In Hagerstown, Wolf Furniture will have adoptable dogs on site at their Prime Outlets location. They host adoptable dogs the first Saturday of each month. And in Columbia, Oldies But Goodies Cocker Spaniel Rescue will be at the PetSmart from 11am to 2pm.
In Falls Church, VA, Homeward Trails will have many of their adoptable dogs at the Borders Books at 5871 Crossroads Center Way from noon to 2pm. Also, in Virginia Mutt Love Rescue will have some loveable mutts at Weber’s Pet Supermarket in Fairfax from noon to 3pm. Oldies but Goodies Cocker Spaniel Rescue will be at the PetSmart in Alexandria, from 11am to 2pm. Additionally, both the PetSmart in Winchester and the one in Virginia Beach will host dogs from the Virginia German Shephard Rescue this weekend. In Virginia Beach they will arrive Saturday at 1pm, and In Winchester, the dogs will be there on Sunday beginning at noon. In both locations you have until 3pm to meet them.
