I think it's time to share every beauty blogger's secret weapon with you, dear readers. It's called
Makeup Alley and you can find information about every beauty product imaginable on it.
Makeup Alley serves a variety of functions for beauty fanatics, but I feel its most useful aspect is the product reviews. To use it, you must first create an account. Then click the
Product Reviews link and type the name of a specific product, brand name, or catergory of beauty product in the handy search boxes.
For example, when I type "Stila Lip Glaze" in the search box, more than 7 pages of reviews appear. Click one of the reviews to get detailed information. When I click Stila Vanilla Lip Glaze, I can find out the product's average rating out of 5 points (4/5) and the percentage of Makeup Alley users who would buy this product again (71%). Then I can read any of the reviews (78 for this example) to find out what users think about it.
The reviews are great because you can find out why certain people like or don't like the product. For example, in the case of Stila Vanilla Lip Glaze, reasons for disliking the product included not liking the smell of vanilla. If you like vanilla, this obviously isn't a problem. You can also see the age, skin type, and skin, hair, and eye color of the reviewer. This is so useful! For example, those with dry skin could try a moisturizer that users with dry skin rate highly. If someone who has a deeper skin tone than you says a lipstick doesn't have enough color, it may be just perfect for you.
There are an infinite number of reviews on the site and you can spend the rest of your life looking at them. Try not to, but know that Makeup Alley can be a great resource as you explore the world of beauty.
