For an increasing number of people, kayaking has become a popular sport for individual explorers, couples and families. For those looking to dip their paddle into as still pond or gentle river and test this sport out, consider signing up for L. L. Bean's Kayaking Discovery Course. This $20.00 two hour course geared for those 8 and up (14 and under with a participating adult) provides a brief overview of paddling techniques and safety skills. After being outfitted with a personal flotation device (PFD), participants can set out in a solo recreational kayak. While this course is designed to give one an immersive experience, guides will accompany the group to offer a narrated tour of the area and provide any assistance as needed.
Once one has gotten the kayaking bud, consider investing in their 4 hour Introduction to Recreational Kayaking course.
