The BMO Harris Pavilion 8pm July 6th, Summerfest 2014 was the place to be last night. Cheap Trick fans from around the globe united with a crowd way beyond capacity. Led Zeppelin tribute band -No Quarter opened up the nights events. From the photos released by the No Quarter camp, a good time was had by all.
Robin Zander was there , Rick was there, Tom was there, Bun E was not there and I was not there.
Low and behold the show went on without The Milwaukee Rock Music Examiner or the delightful original drummer.
Unfortunately "No More Band Drama," a show I have developed , is not yet in production. Reading, web side, I have learned, a couple of law suits are still floating around in regards to- Bun E's monetary value to the band (Cheap Trick) -when he is NOT behind the kit.
Daxx, Rick Nielsen's son is the usual touring drummer. I have yet to find out if it was he, who was busting out the drum beats at last nights show.
I have been a Cheap Trick fanatic since age 11-on July 5th a great friend and his wife offered The Examiner team 4 free tickets to the 8pm show. For 24 hours Mybell68Music , Sixx65roxx, and myself tried ferociously to obtain our admission to the grounds and our press passes. The last minute fight proved futile and I sit here on #musicmonday waiting on press photos and videos from last nights show. Any show and any Cheap Trick event is always a popular attraction , especially in Wisconsin. I will be adding more links and news to this post throughout the day as more press rolls in. For now -I surrender-and all I have to share with you today is a broken heart , a video from the Dream Police Event, and last nights set list.
