While some Chicago area Thai restaurants have popped up in recent years as part of the new food trend, there is one Thai restaurant that has been around long before Thai food was even popular. P.S. Bangkok first opened in 1983 when there weren’t many who knew or appreciated what Thai food was all about. It is a family owned and run restaurant that has qualities that are quite different than the other Thai restaurants you might be familiar with.

In an interview with The Chicago Tribune, owner Sue (Sukanya Buraketrachakul) stated, “We don’t precook food. That’s the point. A lot of people who are my old customers, they understand, but the people who’s never been in my restaurant, they come here and sometimes they expect it to be quick like most of the restaurants. I cannot do like that.”
The food is made to order and yet still maintains a reasonable price, with entrees that are less than $10.
Check out this cheap and made to order Thai restaurant and make sure to order what they are best known for. The banana blossom salad, Siamese curry noodles and garlic smothered grilled fish are what many patrons keep coming back for. Feel free to leave a comment on whether or not this restaurant deserves a second visit.
