Chat with Kazu Kibuishi reveals his thoughts on redesigning Harry Potter covers

What's it like to re-imagine a world that's been in readers' imaginations for 15 years and also portrayed on the silver screen? How does it feel to take a classic and give it your own artistic spin while keeping it authentic for fans? Those were the challenges faced by illustrator Kazu Kibuishi, who Scholastic chose to reinvent the Harry Potter book covers for the 15th anniversary.

Click the video accompanying this article for an interview with Kibuishi. Even though he was reluctant to take on such a big challenge at first, he soon embraced the task and came out with fresh artwork that gives the books a new twist for the next generation of readers while still staying true to the classic nature of the material.

If you attend the Harry Potter celebration at Universal Orlando Resort and visit the expo on January 25 or 26, you can meet Kibuishi for yourself and even get his autograph. The expo is included with your admission ticket. You'll find it in Soundstage 33, but be prepared for a wait to get in.
