Chase Vasser lands role on 'The Walking Dead' Season 5, tweets spoilers

Production for “The Walking DeadSeason 5 is busy at work, casting new characters and gearing up for filming next month. On Wednesday, learned that a new actor has been cast to play a role in the upcoming season, Chase Vasser. His name might not ring a bell for most people, so below is a little more about him.

Chase Vasser is a former UGA football player, and he’s not the first football player to appear on the show. IronE Singleton (T-Dog) and Hines Ward (portrayed a walker) have also starred. Vasser confirmed his casting via Twitter, tweeting what could be spoilers: “It’s official! Tune in on Oct. 13 on AMC for ‘The Walking Dead! #cannibaltwist.”

No, the premiere date for Season 5 has not been officially revealed. For starters, October 13 is a Monday. Could this be a typo and he meant October 12? Also, cannibal twist? Does this confirm the ongoing cannibal speculation? It’s important to note that this Tweet was almost immediately deleted by Vasser, maybe he realized he was giving away light spoilers and told to delete the tweet.

It was a bit of a disappointment to later read his tweet, “Bad timing to say I’ve never watched an episode of ‘The Walking Dead.' Gotta catch up ASAP!” Really, dude? Is it biased of me to think that anyone who stars in “The Walking Dead” should at least already be somewhat of a fan? I mean, “The Walking Dead” is huge! How has Vasser not watched a single episode?

The source speculates that because of his “#cannibaltwis,” Vasser could be playing a member of Terminus. I don’t think he will simply play a walker, or else he wouldn’t have been so excited to catch up to the series. Filming is set to begin on May 5, and we can’t wait for photos and information to leak! “The Walking Dead” Season 5 premieres sometime in October. Hopefully the official date is released soon.
