Congratulations to Girls and Boys Preparatory Academy for winning the state basketball championship on Saturday, February 4, 2012. Girls and Boys Preparatory Academy competed in the Texas Charter School Academic and Athletic League and defeated CAN Academy of Fort Worth in the Austin, Texas tournament. This is the second boys' basketball championship for Girls and Boys Preparatory Academy. The boys were led to victory by Head Coach Lorenzo Johnson, a former professional basketball player.
The Texas Charter School Academic and Athletic League organizes academic and athletic competition for over 90 charter schools across the state of Texas. These competitions include football, basketball, drama, chess, and much more. The League provides charter school students with the enrichment of extracurricular sports and academics that encourage positive attitudes and behavior.
