Dish, Plaza-Midwood's favorite spot for Southern comfort food, is featured for exactly that on the latest episode of the Food Network's hit show "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives." Crazy haired host Guy Fieri samples dish's chicken and dumplings, deviled eggs, and other Southern specials.

The episode "Comfort Food Classics" debuts on the Food Network at 10 pm, Monday, Feb. 22, with repeats at 1 am, Feb. 23, and 9 pm March 5. 

Dish is currently offering a Dessert for Two special. For $5, get two cups of coffee and one of dish's housemade desserts to share. Southern Living raved about the "mind-bending vanilla-bourbon-sweet potato pie." Or you might try chocolate pecan or key lime.

Fieri, who tools around in a bright red convertible, was spotted in Charlotte back in October. He and his crew reportedly filmed episodes at several other places in addition to dish, including Jake's Good Eats, South 21, Cabo Fish Taco, and the Landmark Diner.

South 21, a classic 1950's drive-in, was featured on the "By Request" episode which aired on 02/08/2010. You can catch a rerun on Feb. 28, at 3 pm. Watch for the other restaurants in upcoming episodes.

This is the show's second visit to the Queen City. In 2007, Fieri featured the Barbecue King Drive-In on Wilkinson Blvd. and the Penguin, just across the street from dish.
