Charlotte's Discovery Place is re-done and free on Sunday

For more than a year, Charlotte's premiere science museum, Discovery Place, has been closed or partially closed in an effort to update the exhibits.  This weekend is the grand re-opening!

The museum will premiere several new exhibits such as World Alive, which features a brand new aquarium and rainforest exploration center.  On display, is Fantastic Frogs which will explain the "amazing superpowers" frogs have that enhance their survival capacity.

If you are already a member of Discovery Place, then travel to 301 N. Tryon Street in uptown Charlotte to get a sneak peak at the exhibits.  Discovery Place will be open FOR FREE to MEMBERS ONLY on Saturday, June 26 from 10am-6pm.  (Parking is free in the garage on a first come, first serve basis that day.)

Not a member?  That's OK.  Discovery Place will open FREE TO THE PUBLIC on Sunday, June 27 from 12pm-5pm.  Visit the Cool Stuff exhibit or the newly re-furbished younger kids space, KidScience, ont he first floor.

Of note, while the museum will be free, IMAX movies still will have an additional charge.

During the hot weekend, a visit to Discover Place is a great way to stay cool and learn at the same time.
