Charlotte preschooler wins national NASTAR skiing medal

Charlotte preschooler, 5-year-old Anneliese Payne, traveled to Snowmass, Colorado, and won a bronze medal at a national NASTAR ski race on March 23, 2013. She was in the female 1-5 year-old category, according to reports from members of the Charlotte Ski and Snowboard Club (CSSC) .
According to her mother, Margot Payne, Anneliese had raced 2 races each on Friday, March 22 and Saturday, March 23, 2013. In order to qualify for the NASTAR nationals Anneliese had to race with the CSSC Crescent races and qualify before February 13, 2013. To qualify, Anneliese had to be in the top 3 in her resort or state division.
Anneliese, who is spending her spring break in Vail, Colorado, comes from a family of successful NASTAR racers. Her brother, Ethan Payne, also won a silver medal in the male 10-11 year-old category. Their mother, Margot Payne, won a silver medal in her category at the NASTAR nationals at Snowmass Colorado during the same week.
