Charlotte Preschool Examiner reviews 2012

In 2012, Charlotte preschool families and providers were affected by the celebrities who visited during the CIAA Tournament and the Democratic National Convention (DNC ). Political promises were made and new movies came to the big screen. Some events had Charlotte preschool families and providers reviewing what they would do in the event of an emergency.
On Dr. Suess’ birthday The Lorax opened in Charlotte and First Lady Michele Obama visited the Queen City for the CIAA Tournament and again during the DNC. Gabby Douglas, 2012 Olympian, also visited during the DNC. President Barack Obama (D) promised to improve early childhood education in his speech at the DNC in Charlotte. Another political change in 2012 was the change in the deportation policy. Now Obama speaks about the Fiscal Cliff at the end of 2012, which may affect every taxpayer.
Also in 2012, as PNC Bank partnered with Discovery Place to benefit Charlotte preschoolers, the puppeteer who played Elmo stepped down due to personal reasons. In other celebrity news, JK Rowling released her novel, The Casual Vacancy, which explored the plight of a preschool family. Two new movies opened, including Madagascar 3
and The Avengers.
With violence in the movies and in video games came real violence in 2012 with the James Eagan Holmes murders at another Batman opening and then the Connecticut school shooting, which had parents hugging their children and preschool providers and schools practicing lockdowns.
As American flags and state flags are raised to the tops of the flag poles in 2013, Charlotte preschool families and providers can learn from the past and move into the new year thankful for what we have and ready to tackle new challenges.
