Charlotte area Big Lots stores offer brand name toys at drastically lower prices

Dancing Brobee in action

This time of year is the biggest time of year for toys.  Santa lists are made up from everything from wooden tops to laptops and everything in between.

Black Friday is upcoming and you can look forward to long lines and short tempers.  However there is one saving grace, you can save money by shopping at your local Big Lots.  They have the same brand name toys at deep discounted prices.  One example is the dancing brobee doll seen pictured here.  At  Big Lots this toy retails for $20.  At bigger full price retailers this item retails for $34.99.  That's the quintessential definition of a deep discount.  There is a caveat to shopping at Big Lots.  Being a closeout retailer there is no guarantee that the hot toy you see will be there after the initial sale.  In short, if you see it, buy it.  You may never see it there again.

Big Lots sells more than toys.  It sells everything you may need for the home.  Need a new artificial christmas tree?  They have you covered.  Big Lots offers everything from sardines to sofas.  There is a huge advantage if you intend to shop at Big Lots regularly; joining the Buzz Club.  Free to join, this program gives you a wallet card and a key card similar to grocery stores.  You scan this every time you shop to earn rewards points towards future purchases.  This biggest advantage this program offers is advance notice of upcoming ads.  Buzz Club members see the upcoming ads in their email days before the actual ad is sent to homes in the newspaper.  As the holiday season nears and the availability of certain toys gets slimmer, you can know exactly when your local store ad breaks so that you can make sure you are there that day to get that hot toy.  Big Lots offers boy and girl toys, toys for preschoolers and games and activities.

Big Lots has black friday too so plan accordingly.  Whereas this time of year most retailers offer door buster deals on the weekend after thanksgiving, Big Lots has door busters year round due to the nature of its business.  Toys are an integral part of Big Lots inventory and if you decide to give them a shot, you'll find that you will get the exact same toy and drastic discounts.  Your kids usually leave long lists for Santa to fill.  Shopping at Big Lots stretches your dollar so that for the first time Santa could actually fill that list out.  Big Lots also is a drop-off location for the Marine Corps toys for tots program.  Since you will be saving money shopping at Big Lots, consider buying a toy for those less fortunate children and drop it in the donation box.  Remember, children have no control over the financial situation in their lives and every child deserves a toy.

New to Big Lots this year is video games for the Nintendo DS, Nintendo WII and Playstation 2.  Again, prices are dramatically lower than other retailers.
