According to E! Online, the cast of "Mad Max 4" could include Charlize Theron as the leading lady and possibly Tom Hardy as Max. Director George Miller announced that he was developing the film in 2007. The film was in pre-production in 2003 but was delayed. In 2007, Miller said Mel Gibson was too old to play "Max Rockatansky" and added "I don't think he would be interested in being involved at all."
Anime "Mad Max"?
The working title for the fourth "Mad Max" movie is "Mad Max 4: Fury Road." Earlier this year, MTV Movies blog reported that the latest "Mad Max" movie may be a 3-D anime film and would be released along with an action-adventure game designed by Cory Barlog, who designed "God of War II."
Miller told MTV, "The anime is an opportunity for me to shift a little bit about what anime is doing because anime is ripe for an adjustment or sea change,” he explained. “It’s coming in games and I believe it’s the same in anime. There’s going to be a hybrid anime where it shifts more towards Western sensibilities. [Japanese filmmaker Akira] Kurosawa was able to bridge that gap between the Japanese sensibilities and the West and make those definitive films."
Tom Hardy
If you're not familiar with Tom Hardy, he's a British actor who played "Twombly" in the 2001 film "Black Hawk Down." The majority of Hardy's roles have been in television series and made-for-TV movies in the U.K., including "The Take" and "Cape Wrath" ("Meadowlands" in the U.S).
Charlize Theron
Academy Award winning actress Charlize Theron could play opposite Hardy, but her exact role is unknown as details of the film are being kept a secret. Theron has proven to be a versatile actress, her roles have ranged from playing a serial killer in the 2003 film "Monster" and suburban superhero "Mary" in "Hancock."
