So it has finally been decided who will be playing the lead roles in the film adaptation of the book, 50 Shades of Grey, a hotly debated subject. E.L. James announced the news on Monday.
Charlie Hunnam, who is best known for his roles as Jax Teller in Sons of Anarachy has nabbed the controversial role as Christian Grey. This role in particular has been hugely debated amongst the fans of the series. The original inspiration for the character was Robert Pattinson while his on and off screen (ex) love Kristen Stewart inspired the female character.
When rumors of a film version of the book were spread, fans everywhere started polling who would be playing the Christian Grey role. Some fans speculated Ian Somerholder would do the part justice, while others wanted Superman Henry Cavill.
Dakota Johnson is most recognized for her roles in short lived series Ben and Kate and her small, yet memorable, role in The Social Network. She also worked as a model for IMG and is the daughter of Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith. When fans discussed who would do well in this part, names like Lily Collins, Mila Kunis, and Alexis Bledel came up.
The book 50 Shades of Grey is an erotic romance about a young college graduate Anastasia Steele who meets business mogul Christian Grey. After several flirtations, things heat up and he teaches her about more than just business. The book is famous for its deep BDSM scenes.
