Fans of Jax on “Sons of Anarchy” were thrilled when news broke that Charlie Hunnam was cast to star as Christian Grey in the movie version of “Fifty Shades of Grey.” The hype over the casting swept across social media, but with all of the love from fans, there were also critics. Hunnam is heavily involved in “Sons of Anarchy,” and fans were worried that scheduling conflicts would occur. According to an article by People on October 13, Charlie Hunnam has officially stepped down from the role of Christian Grey, and it will be recast.
There is no word yet on how Charlie Hunnam’s exit will affect production of the movie. Filming was set to begin in just a few weeks, and the film adaptation of the book was supposed to hit theaters in August 2014. It appears that Hunnam’s exit was amicable, and there are no hard feelings. Fans are wondering who will be cast as the new Christian Grey. Several names have been thrown around, but Ian Somerhalder is the most talked about.
Fans will still be able to see Charlie Hunnam on “Sons of Anarchy” on FX. The show airs Tuesday nights at 9 p.m. CST. It is a shame that Hunnam didn’t stick around to complete the project, but it is good news that nothing will affect his role as Jax.
